Verses of classical Arabic poetry

Classical Arabic poetry is one of the most beautiful types of poetry ever, but it is characterised by difficulty and consists of a second half, a first half and a rhyme, meaning that the poem must be rhymed and end with a rhyme.

Verses of the poet Al-Shafi’i

Let the days do what they want

And be at peace when fate decrees

And do not be impatient for the calamity of the nights, for the incidents of this world do not last

And be a man who is patient in the face of terrors, and your nature is generosity and loyalty

And if your faults are many in the people and you are pleased that they have a cover for them

Cover them with generosity, for every fault it covers, as it is said, generosity

And never see humiliation in enemies, for the gloating of enemies is a calamity

And do not expect generosity from a miser, for there is no water for the thirsty in the fire

And your provision is not diminished by delay, and hardship does not increase provision

And Sadness that lasts, and no joy, nor misery, nor prosperity for you.

And he whose courtyard is visited by death, no earth or sky can protect him.

And God’s earth is vast, but when fate descends, space narrows.

Leave the days to betray every time, for no medicine can replace death.

Verses of the poet Al-Mutanabbi

Al-Mutanabbi is a great poet who was born in Kufa in Kinda and grew up in the Levant. Al-Mutanabbi praised Saif al-Dawla Ibn Hamdan, the Emir of Aleppo, and he also praised al-Ikhshidid in Egypt, and asked him for the governorship, but he did not appoint him, so he became angry with him and began to satirize him, and he praised Izz al-Dawla in Shiraz.

Horses, night and desert know me

And the sword, the spear, the paper and the pen

I accompanied the wild beasts alone in the wilderness

Until the mountain and the hill were amazed at me

O you who are hard for us to part from

Our conscience is everything after you is nothingness

It would not have been more honorable than you

If your matter were our matter

If what he said pleased you Our envious ones

There is no pain in a wound if it pleases you

And between us, if you were to consider that, there is knowledge

Indeed, knowledge is in the people of understanding, consciences

How often do you seek faults in us, but you are unable to do them

And Allah hates what you do and generosity

How far are faults and shortcomings from my honor

I am the Pleiades and those of old age and decrepitude

If only the clouds whose thunderbolts are with me

Would remove them to whom With him is the eternity

I see the distance demanding me at every stage

The pillow is not independent of the drawing

If he left a conscience on our right

Those I bid farewell to will regret

If you depart from a people who have been destined

That you will not leave them, then the departed are the worst

The country is a place where there is no friend and the worst

What a person earns is what he fasts And the worst

What my palms have hunted is the hunter of meteors

The falcons are the same in it and the marble in any word

You say poetry is a fin that is permissible with you

Neither Arab nor Persian This is your reproach

Except that it is a slap that has contained pearls except that it is a word
